I spent the summer looking for butterflies for two reasons: I enjoy discovering ones I've never seen and to use butterfly photos to make art.
There are a number of techniques I used to do this: changing the camera's white balance to an infrared custom setting, blurring the background of the photos, changing the color of the background, adding a texture, adding another photo to the butterfly photo to make a composite. Once I started making the photos, ideas came to me. There were many creative possibilities. I used photoshop to edit the photos. Now it's September, and I'll have to wait until next summer to make more butterfly photo art.
