I never knew photography would lead me to an interest in birding. I just thought that I would try to take a photo of a bird that I liked, but now I want to know the species - I could be looking at a rare bird. I just finished reading "Kingbird Highway", by Kenn Kaufman. He and some birding friends
travelled 1000 miles to a place near Durango, Mexico to find an Eared Trogon. They encountered difficulties and disappointments, but eventually found the bird. When Ken writes about finding the Eared Trogon nest and seeing a baby Eared Trogon looking at him, I got a shiver up my spine. I guess I'm becomming a birder.
